To encourage more people to adopt and to reduce the time it takes for children to be placed with a loving family, as well as make sure adoptive families get the support they need, the government is introducing an Adoption Support Fund from spring 2015 to help adoptive families access high-quality support services.
From spring of this year, employed adopters would be entitled to the same pay and leave as birth parents.
The government has dropped its proposal to raise the fee for an application to issue a divorce. In its original proposals the government had envisaged raising the fee from £410 to £750. In doing so, the Ministry of Justice acknowledged that the current fee was already above the estimated costs.
